The transfer tool enables the easy connection and transfer of accounts between two cPanel-enabled servers. It works by initiating an SSH connection between the two servers and then scanning the accounts on a server. If you want a quick technical overview, in the background, the tool will use the pkgaccount function to create a neat tar.gz file and use SCP or a similar method to transfer that file to the destination server, where it will be unpacked.
To use the transfer tool you will need
1. First login to WHM on the destination server (the server you are transferring to).
2. From the main dashboard screen search transfer, click Transfer Tool as shown below.
3. After from the transfer tool enter the details of the remote server (the server your account is already on) this includes entering the IP or hostname, the SSH port (if different from the default) and your authentication method (with password if configured).
Do not enable restricted restore unless transferring an account you don’t own. This feature primarily serves screening purposes and is unnecessary if you properly manage your account and keep it free of malware.
4. Moving on scan the remote server (source) by clicking the Scan Remote Server button. This will start scanning for accounts on the remote which you can select from later.
5. Afterwards select the account to be transferred from the provided list, using the checkbox to select your account the clicking “Copy” to initiate the transfer process.
6. Finally, sit back and watch the migration process complete – keep an eye out for any errors that might pop up in either transfer or restore processes. When that has completed successfully your account has been transferred and should be visible from the list accounts area in WHM.
